Carentan O Carentan D-Day June 6th 1944

This is a poem by a great american poet Louis Simpson from the 101st. Air Force airborne division.Credit must also be given to Charles Durning an american actor whose rare recitation of this poem is seldom heard,Only in a documentary ( Normandy: The Great Crusade ) He is the highest decorated actor/soldier since Audie Murphy.Only twice to my knowledge has he ever spoke of that day the other on PBS veterans Day 1995.I felt not only compelled to read as an actor but an honor and priveledge as well
